Evergreen trees
Evergreens are distinct from deciduous trees in that they retain their leaves all year round. In contrast, deciduous trees lose their leaves in a fiery display in the autumn before coming into leaf again in the spring. Evergreen trees are core to the architecture of the garden, as they provide year-round structure, privacy and interest when the rest of the garden is bare. During the gardening season, they act as a rich canvas, bring their own colour and texture whilst also acting as a foil for showier flowering plants. They come in all shapes and sizes and the leaves aren’t always green – they also come in greys, yellows, reds and blue-grey, as well as variegated combinations. Some evergreens also produce beautiful flowers and fruit or have attractive bark. You may wish to consider our range of conifer plants for the same purpose, which are also evergreen. Many of our evergreen trees are grown as standards or otherwise suitable for pots and containers. Standards can be particularly effective positioned either side of an entrance or doorway, adding a touch of elegance and glamour to your home.
