Foliage plants 

Foliage plants are grown for their charming, ornamental leaves and represent an essential element of any garden design alongside flowers and berries. Their leaves may be colourful, lobed, unusually shaped, textured, veined, variegated, hairy or glossy to make an attractive ornamental feature. They’re often overlooked but an effective selection of foliage plants can truly enrich your beds, borders and containers. They tend to be evergreen, offering colour and interest all year round with the best varieties to choose depending on your site and situation. Hostas make an excellent choice for shade with their large, heart-shaped leaves, while Japanese acers work especially well in containers with their palmate and sometimes deeply dissected deciduous leaves. Heuchera are colourful, evergreen perennials, often with two-tone foliage with ruffled edges and phormium plants provides a dramatic accent in the border or containers.
