Sowing Time
February - July
Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost, Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth 10-15 degree Celsius (50-60 Fahrenheit), and keep moist.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost. Alternatively transplant individually to 8cm (3in) pots of potting compost.
Hardening Off/Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out from early summer onwards. Allow 60cm (24in) between plants.
Flowering Time
June - July. February sowings will usually produce plants which flower in the same and following years. Later sowings will flower for the first time the following summer.
